Adorned Walls

November 18, 2010
I love doilies.  'Always have...   Lol, don't ask, but look!  Oh-la-la! 'Love how the owner of this bedroom took out her grannie's collection and gave it a fresh and modern use.

Shopping around flea markets, yard sales and antique shops can be great fun!  There's a thrill about the hunting and gathering and finding items... especially on the cheap!   I especially love this idea because it's easy and inexpensive!

Gold antique frames, left empty and then hung to create an area of interest, texture and romance.
What more can I say? J'adore!

The way items are arranged on a wall can also be part of the fun and design.  Too often I might think of just hanging items in a straight horizontal alignment etc.  Uh, but, wow... How fab is the below arrangement?
Don't have already have a collection of items?  Look no further than around your house for items you already own!  Seriously...

Take the scarf you bought at a consignment shop?   That one with the wild colors and pattern that you just love to look at but can never figure out how to wear.  Frame it!  Voila!

For a music lover, the below idea is just tops!  Love, love, love!

My friend, traveling the world from each city brings a plate as a souvenir. In his collection of more than 300 pieces! Interesting tradition.

It's funny to see the collection of classical music sheets...Last year I bought two of them from the twenties -because the cover was amazing- and I'm wondering what to do with them since then.
Now, I think I should start a collection and decorate a wall! :D

Really cool idea.

Thanks.

Ciao.

Great to see so many different ideas for walls, rather than just plain old pictures.

Especially liking the plates!

Using doilies like this is an amazing idea - not only do they look artistic, they also don't harm anyone's budget. My fav photo is the first one in black and white! It's got plenty of style!

I am loving these looks. So original. I especially like the doilies, they look great on that wall. And how nice that they can be used in such an inspiring way instead of being shut away in a drawer. Isn't it funny how during the 80's and 90's we spent our time clearing away adornments from walls, floors and rooms to create the ultimate chic minimalist look, and things are going full circle and we are returning to adorning our homes with ornaments we can collect with other objects of interest.
Thanks for sharing, Fleur.
